Employment Definitions

TAMU/TEES GAR

This is more commonly referred to as a “Research Assistant” or “Graduate Researcher”. This usually means that you are hired and being paid by an active research project (in this case a TAMU or TEES project).

TTI GAR

This is the same as a TAMU/TEES GAR, but for a TTI project.

GAT/TA

This is commonly referred to as a “Teaching Assistant” or “TA”. Select this if you have been hired to be a teaching assistant for an undergraduate course (or set of courses).

GANT

This is a “Graduate Assistant, Non-Teaching” position. GANTs are not as common as TAs or GARs, but are still considered employment by the department.

HOURLY GRADER

If you have been hired by an instructor as an hourly grader, select this.

HOURLY STUDENT WORKER

If you have been hired by one of our faculty in some sort of hourly student worker capacity (Student Worker or Student Technician job title), then select this.

ACTIVE DUTY MILITARY

Select this if you are currently serving in the military.

OTHER

If you are employed in any other way academically, select this and describe it in the next field. Fellowships and government funding would fall under this category.

NOT EMPLOYED

If you do not work for the department, select this.
